The Noble Aspiration Foundation, and other Historically Black Fraternities and Sororities are marching to bring attention to the disparities that minorities face when interacting with the police. Our proposal includes suggestions to prevent police brutality that the Black community experiences on a regular basis when interacting with police.
1. Police Training:
- De-escalation
- Diversity
- Racial biases exams
- Mandatory psychiatrist visits
- Body cam on at all times.
2. Mandatory duty to intervene on by-standing law enforcement personnel, and provide an incentive for officers who do so
3. Police Department Data
- Compel 100% of all Police departments across the nation to report their data centrally
- Make all police department data public
- Include aggravated data on officer involved shootings, officer discipline, and officers fired for misconduct
- Release unedited body cam footage, within 48 hours, of police involved shootings etc…
4. Restraint
- Require annual training on the proper use of force
- Outlaw all choke and strangle holds
- Publish the required discipline for these illegal use of restraint
