The deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and numerous others have sparked a huge wave of subsequent protests against police brutality, systemic racism and racial injustice in a way never seen before since turn of the new millennium. The message of criminal justice reform; and racial, economic and educational equity for black people within the framework of American society has been a focal point for the Black Lives Matters movement. A bigger discussion, however, needs to be raised on the black lives which have typically been neglected when declaring the statement, #BlackLivesMatter. Join us as we engage in dialogue about the continued impact the movement has yielded and to also give visibility on the commonly overlooked members of the black community, who in many cases are in the front line when advocating for the cause and yet aren’t always on the receiving end of that level of support.
