Over the summer of 2020, the world woke as a result of protests calling out the police brutality faced by George Floyd on 25th May 2020 in Minneapolis, USA. A protest took place in Wellingborough Sunday 7th June where hundreds of people participated calling for an end to systematic racism.

In response to this, Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council published a “Nine point plan” challenging local citizens, public authorities and businesses working locally. To take this work forward, we want to get people in Wellingborough to talk about the Black Lives Matters movement and focus on what the main concerns and campaigns for change that should be the priorities for Wellingborough.

We aim to prompt accessible debate and lead on proposed actions In the spirit of openness and respect, we can engage in action together.
