About this Event

In the wake of the tragic murder of George Floyd and the events that followed the Gary Comer Youth Center’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) wondered “has anything like this happened before in our city?”

“City on Fire: Protests & Riots in Chicago” is an interactive event designed to explore the history of protest culture, riots, and race in Chicago. The YAB will facilitate conversations on Red Summer of 1919, the 1968 Riots, and the Chicago Bulls Championship Riot. Afterward, we will have a special guest panel to discuss the attempted erasure of protests and riots from Chicago history.

This virtual event is free and open to the public. Come learn something new about our city with us!
