Please join in for the revamp of what was previously known as the African American Parade of Connecticut.

PEACEFUL PROTEST – 4PM

Due to the pandemic, unfortunately we cannot have a parade. Instead of a parade, please join us for a peaceful BLM protest on Friday August 21st, 2020. We will begin at the CT State Capital, march down Albany Avenue to acknowledge Black owned businesses, turn right onto Woodland Street, and end at Keney Park to stay within the social distancing guidelines.

This date was chosen as a local kick-off for those that may or may not travel to attend the 2020 March on Washington hosted by Al Sharpton, which takes place the following weekend.

SOCIAL DISTANCE AT KENEY PARK – 5:30PM-7:30PM

Bring your own blanket and bagged lunch. Blankets should be placed 15 feet away from each other. Have your masks with you. Networking, business cards, and cross promotion to build community conversations is encouraged.

This is not a cookout or festival. No tents, tables, grilling, or open flames. Do not litter or leave trash in our Black neighborhood. Please and thank you.

VIRTUAL PARADE ON FACEBOOK LIVE – 7:30PM-8:30PM (Eastern Time)
Where To Watch – https://www.facebook.com/CTBlackParade

A virtual parade will be produced for the first time ever. If you were involved in the African American Parade of Connecticut in the past we’re looking to interview you.

Black owned businesses or organizations that provide services and safe space that progress the Black community are encouraged to submit a 30-60 second video or a digital flyer to participate in the Facebook Live broadcast. CT artists, drumlines, marching bands, and dance groups can also submit a pre-recorded performance or music video (No profanity). If you have video of yourself at a previous BLM protest you’ve attended we would love to include you. The virtual presentation will be edited by long time CT film director DJ Ephraim Adamz who recently produced New England Virtual Pride and a portion of Global Pride 2020 respectively.
