A number of us attended a recent Chula Vista City Council meeting to speak up supporting Drag Queen Story Hour, the LGBTQ community, and to offer support for Mayor Mary Salas and Councilmember Steve Padilla.
Unfortunately, since September of last year, a recognized hate group called MassResistance has continuously held court at Chula Vista City Council meetings every week. They have denounced drag queens, ostracized immigrants, praised Donald Trump, spewed hateful, disgusting comments towards our LGBTQ community, and towards Mayor Salas and Councilmember Padilla.
This hate group has engaging in this activity every week — since last September.
Enough. Is. Enough.
We need to show up and speak up during public comment against this hate group and their followers.
We need to show up and thank Mayor Salas and Councilmember Padilla for their steadfast leadership in the face of hate and discrimination.
Chula Vista is the second-largest city in San Diego County, and like so many other cities across America, Chula Vista is beautiful, diverse, and vibrant — and hate should have no place in our own backyard.
Please encourage as many of our friends and allies as possible to attend the Chula Vista City Council meetings moving forward. They are held every Tuesday at 5:00pm at City Hall, located at 276 4th Ave., Chula Vista 91910.
Let’s celebrate the beautiful diversity and vibrancy of Chula Vista!
