PROTESTING ISN’T SOMETHING TO AVOID IT IS YOUR DUTY. WHETHER YOU HAVE A GRIEVANCE OF ANY KIND YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO MAKE IT KNOWN. IF THE GOVERNMENT VIOLATES YOUR RIGHTS YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO LET IT BE KNOWN. PROTESTS ARE AMERICA. YOUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL THE LIBERTIES YOU ARE ENTITLED TO. THAT IS WHY IT IS THE FIRST AMENDMENT
The First Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
LETTING THE WORLD KNOW YOUR FEELINGS IS WHAT AMERICA WAS FOUNDED UPON…..FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
Sending a message only really has meaning when it resonates. Whatever the message is it loses emphasis when shared with only a few others. That message gains meaning when hundreds or thousands are spreading the message…..awareness grows with numbers spreading your message.
To be successful you have to be able to justify and effect CHANGE. The end result of a successful protest is to see change as a result of influencing minds. Those protests need to be logical and obvious arguments solving injustices not creating emotional illogical demands.
WHAT PROTESTING IS NOT
Protesting is NOT looting, stealing and damaging private property. That is criminal behavior and sends exactly the opposite message than the FIRST AMENDMENT grants you the freedom to express. As a famous president said..”Destruction is not progress”.
