Writing your MP, volunteering for a community group, or attending a protest are all types of civic engagement that are critical for a strong democracy. However, the ability of concerned citizens to engage in protest is increasingly being discouraged, if not repressed, by political commentary and a range of legal techniques.

In the second of our belated Law Week series, join Melbourne Activist Legal Support for a public panel: “Defending Space for Protest.” Featuring Dr Nicole Rogers and Felicity Gerry, QC, the panel will address innovative legal strategies that push back against state repression and expand political space for protest.

This event is possible through a generous grant from the Victorian Law Foundation.

Questions encouraged and all are welcome!
