Event Rules

BE KIND

We’re all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. We don’t all have to agree, but kindness is required. We ask that our attendees don’t make assumptions about anyone else’s pronouns – if in doubt, ask!

NO HATE SPEECH OR BULLYING

Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying and oppressive and discriminatory behaviour/language of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to ableism, ageism, fatphobia, LGBTQ+ based phobia, racism, sexism, slut-shaming and/or xenophobia.

We have chosen to make Totnes Pride Online an interactive experience wherever possible. While we have taken steps to make these events as safe as we can, we have no control over attendee’s speech. As such, there could still be instances of hate. Our moderator team will be in attendance at every event. If any harmful messages or people enter our space, our moderators will react by removing them. If you encounter any harassment or harm through private chat, please message one of our moderators to let them know.

LIVES ARE NOT UP FOR DEBATE

Lives and rights are not up for discussion/debate in this group. Proud2Be was set up to support ALL LGBTQ+ people. No one should be asked to justify their identity, expression and/or existence.

RESPECT EVERYONE’S PRIVACY

Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What’s shared in the group should stay in the group.

NO REPRESENTATIVES

Don’t expect a person to represent all people who identify in the same way. No one should be asked to represent or speak on behalf of an entire group. We speak for ourselves and take ownership of our own thoughts, feelings and opinions.

NO GATEKEEPING

The only person who can decide someone’s sexual orientation and/or gender is themselves. Intentional misgendering will not be tolerated.

NO POLITICS

We are a diverse group of people with a wide range of views when it comes to Politics. Although we feel it is important to be able to discuss this, we just don’t feel that this is the space to do it.
